Translating in Style ‒ Proverbs, Images, and Quotations

Proverbs, images, and quotations are a shared shorthand of historical and cultural references, both conscious and unconscious. They affect the way authors think, feel, and convey their ideas, and how these are received by their readers. This Camels seminar examines common examples of these three categories in German, explaining their origins and current meanings and suggesting English-language equivalents or other ways of dealing with them.
